Renting a trailer should be the easy part of the job. The trick is picking the right one the first time, so you are not making a second trip or towing something your truck was never meant to pull.
Step 1: Start with what you are hauling
Before you look at sizes or ratings, write down exactly what is going on the trailer. The load decides the trailer type, and the trailer type decides almost everything else.
Open decks for equipment, mulch, sod, furniture, and ATVs. Easy to load from any side.
Best for debris, dirt, gravel, and demo waste that you would rather tip than shovel out.
Keeps furniture, tools, and gear dry and out of sight, from a move to a weekend trip.
Built for vehicles, with winches, long decks, and the capacity a car or truck demands.
Step 2: Know what your vehicle can tow
This is the step people skip. Most modern half-ton trucks can tow around 10,000 pounds, and every trailer in our fleet is under that weight. But the trailer is only part of the number. Your load counts too, so add the two together and check the total against your vehicle's towing capacity.
Call us at (479) 599-7368 and we will help you work it out before you book. A two-minute call is cheaper than a wasted trip.
Quick match by vehicle
- Car or crossover: stick with lighter single-axle options, and always confirm the rating first.
- SUV or small truck: most small utility and enclosed trailers are a comfortable fit.
- Half-ton or heavy-duty truck: you have room for dump trailers, car haulers, and larger enclosed units.
- No tow vehicle at all: call us about delivery within our service area.
Step 3: Think about how you will load it
Loading is where a trailer either saves your day or ruins it. A few things worth checking on the trailer you pick:
- Ramp or tilt: wheeled equipment and vehicles load much easier with a wide ramp or a tilt deck.
- Winch: handy if what you are hauling cannot be driven or pushed on by hand. Some of our haulers come with one built in.
- E-track or tie-downs: more tie-down points means a more secure load from any angle.
Step 4: Run a quick check before you leave the lot
- Make sure the ball size matches the coupler, and that the coupler is latched and pinned.
- Connect the safety chains and the trailer lights, then test the brake lights and turn signals.
- Check tire condition, and load heavier items toward the front of the trailer.
- Strap everything down, then give each strap one more tug before you pull out.
Also, your automobile insurance should cover anything you tow, so confirm that with your provider before pickup.
Step 5: Pick it up on your schedule
Every Razorback trailer is kept right here in Springdale, inspected and ready to tow. Pickup is contactless, with instructions texted to your phone, so you can grab your trailer on your own time.
